Nail Surgery is a minor surgical procedure to remove all or part of your toenail. This is usually required for frequently occurring in growing toe nails and is performed under local anaesthetic providing a permanent solution to the problem.

Local anaesthetic is injected into your toe which makes the toe numb so you feel no pain but are aware of touch and pressure. A tight band is applied to the base of your toe to prevent bleeding and a small section or the whole nail is removed. A chemical is then applied to prevent re-growth of the nail.

Care has to be taken to keep the toe dry and it must be re-dressed regularly.

Healing time depends on your age/health etc but is generally 4 – 8 weeks.
